the project incorporated creative enhancements to protect students on their way to and from schools. SRTS joins other important City projects including Great Streets projects, Select Bus Services (SBS) corridors, and public plazas. These projects aim to improve and create pedestrian space and reorganize complicated intersections all as part of the City’s Vision Zero initiative for a safer and more secure New York.

mirabal staff collaborated and supported the engineering team providing resident engineering inspection services necessary and required for the management, inspection, coordination, and administration of the project. Construction activities required close coordination and interaction with the affected communities and the team incorporated a community construction liaison person (CCL).

the work involved multiple pedestrian safety enhancements in the vicinity of several schools and included neckdowns, pavement markings, bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs, pedestrian ramps. In addition, in order to complete the proposed contract work, the project incorporated drainage/roadway re-alignment work, distribution water mains offsets and relocations, installation of catch basins, sewer access manholes; traffic signal upgrades, landscaping, street lighting and other improvements.
