GKOH15-02
GKOH15-02 is a NYCDEP Green Infrastructure (GI) project to collect and manage stormwater runoff and reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO). NYCDEP’s GI Program has implemented over 13,000 right-of-way green infrastructure assets citywide, preventing millions of gallons of stormwater from entering the sewer system and reducing CSO.
GKOH15-02 is the first of multiple areawide PPCP construction contracts planned under this CSO-reduction program. Construction began in 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
NYCDEP is constructing over 7 miles of Precast Porous Concrete Panels (PPCP) within the parking lane of roadways in the Gravesend Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, across Community Boards 7, 12, and 14, including installation of nearly 116,370 square feet of porous pavement.
Planning and design took three years and included feasibility studies, siting locations, geotechnical investigations, topographic survey, and development of detailed design drawings and specifications; the project also addresses conflict resolution during construction and includes periodic cleaning requirements during the contractor guarantee period to maintain PPCP functionality.
