In collaboration with NYCDDC, the City’s primary capital construction agency, mirabal, in joint venture, leads the engineering team providing all necessary services required for the full construction implementation of the project including management, inspection, coordination, and administration.

mirabal's staff has led the team assigned to the project to provide engineering services necessary for the management, inspection, coordination and administration of the project.
scope of work
the proposed work entails the installation of water mains, replacing existing mains, installed nearly 80 years ago, and appurtenances; combined sewers; catch basins; street lighting; rehabilitation of gas facilities; electric utilities; optimization of traffic patterns and sidewalks and road restoration.
project location
the project locations fall within the jurisdiction of Community Board No.8 on the Upper East Side (UES) of Manhattan, and the confines of the East Sixtieth Neighborhood Association (ESNA). Due to existing localized flooding conditions this project was eagerly anticipated by the local community.
construction challenges and site conditions
Our team has implemented a wide-ranging Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) of best practices designs for ADA compliance through construction work zones.
engineering solutions and design adaptability
construction on the UES, one of the most traffic congested sections of the City, poses uncommon challenges implementing temporary traffic arrangements necessary to complete the proposed work while minimizing disruptions. Additional operational constraints are accentuated as the project locations are in close proximity to the Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive (FDR), a major traffic artery of the City, the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, and the Rockefeller University. This is a high-sensitive area of the City with a diverse array of businesses including hospitals, clinics, medical research centers, hotels, restaurants, laundries, and residential buildings.
agency coordination and communication
particular attention is dedicated to the coordination of construction activities in the City as it demands extensive communication with local agencies, in particular with NYCDOT to optimize temporary traffic patterns minimizing disruptions.
