engineering leadership

In collaboration with NYCDDC, the City’s primary capital construction agency, mirabal, in joint venture, leads the engineering team providing all necessary services required for the full construction implementation of the project including management, inspection, coordination, and administration.

trunk water main scope

The scope of the trunk water main phase is vast and involves the installation of over 14,00 linear feet of 72-inch, 60-inch and 48-inch mains, including the installation of butterfly and regulator valves and the construction of underground reinforced concrete chambers.

distribution system upgrades

QED991 encompasses major improvements to the distribution water main system, replacing aging pipes installed between 1912 and 1940. This phase of the project is extensive and comprises of over 25,000 linear feet of new ductile iron (DI) water mains.

Major upgrades to the sanitary and storm sewer systems, increasing drainage capacity while eliminating recurring flooding conditions in multiple sensitive areas, incorporate over 4,200 linear feet sanitary sewers; 3,000 linear feet of combined sewers; and 500 linear feet of storm sewers.

tunneling and trenchless operations

The proposed work involves tunneling operations under the Clearview Expressway along 38th Ave. and requires the installation of three crossings beneath the expressway—a 60-inch steel sleeve for installation of the trunk water main; and two 30-inch steel sleeves for the sanitary sewer and gas main, respectively. The sleeves will be constructed/installed using the pilot tube guided auger-bore trenchless method.
