QED991 
QED991 was a NYCDDC infrastructure project in Bayside and Flushing, Queens that upgraded the trunk water main system to add redundancy and reinforce high-pressure lines, while also replacing aging distribution water mains and implementing major sewer and drainage improvements to increase capacity and eliminate flooding in sensitive areas.

The trunk water main phase included over 14,000 LF of 72-inch, 60-inch, and 48-inch mains, including butterfly and regulator valves and underground concrete chambers. Distribution system upgrades included over 25,000 LF of new ductile iron water mains replacing aging pipes dating from 1912 to 1940.

Sewer and drainage upgrades included over 7,700 LF of sewers and installation of 125 catch basins to increase capacity and eliminate flooding in sensitive areas.

The work also included three trenchless crossings beneath the Clearview Expressway using the pilot tube guided auger-bore method, as well as comprehensive final street restoration across 56 city blocks, including 28,000 LF of curbs and 83,000 SF of sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, and full pavement restoration.

In collaboration with NYCDDC, the City’s primary capital construction agency, mirabal, in joint venture, leads the engineering team providing all necessary services required for the full construction implementation of the project including management, inspection, coordination, and administration.
